Tis the season

I like to be festive around the holidays. With the exception of Christmas music, that begins on Nov 1 (I'm talking to you HINGHAM SHOPS). Lets keep the music in the cd case until the day after TG.

Anyhoo, what I really love is the slow transition from the fall into the holidays with little wreaths here and there and candles of cranberry and gingerbread scents. Sweet Grass Farms has raised the bar with their Farmhouse Holiday Greenery Collection. The all-natural bath, body, and home care line has a fragrance of spruce, pine, and cedarwood! It will bring back memories for sure, and get you in the mood that will carry you through December to the New Year!

The line consists of dish soap, room spray, hand lotion, liquid soap, soy candle, and fragrance sticks.

The liquid soap is already a hit around this house, and it can double as a shower gel too! It's made from a plant based cleanser with rich moisturizing abilities.

Speaking of showers and moisture, this time of year causes my hands to fall apart, especially in the shower. The combination of cold climate and hot water break my skin ala earthquake style. Well, lo and behold, Sweet Grass Farms has something to take care of that as well.
Their Super Duty Hand Care is a salve, blended with beeswax, olive and sunflower oils, lanolin, and essential oils.

The lemon/lavender scented salve is super long lasting with the power to nourish the most chapped skin.

My new favorite Yoga Pants

The lovely ladies of Beckons Organic were nice enough to let me try out their Strength Cami and Strength pant.

I've been wearing my happy organic outfit to yoga and around town doing my errands. They are shaped in a way that not only are they comfortable to practice asanas in and walk around, but they are also void of that - I just finished doing yoga and I didn't have time to change- look. I threw over a sweater and hopped into ballet flats, voila! Right after my class I was running to the post office.

I especially loved that I didn't have to hem them as I usually have to do with yoga pants.

Everything is 100% organic cotton. They also have a little black dress available to boot!

Brazilets

I just got mine in the mail! I ordered the DarkBlue.

Brazilets are worn fashionably throughout Latin America yet retain spiritual significance as they help grant wishes to all who wear them. Brazilets are worn by wrapping around the writs and tying three knots for three wishes: when the material wears down and the Brazilets fall off naturally, it is believed that the three wishes will come true.

To learn more about saving the Brazilian rainforests visit: www.brazilets.com

Brazilets, or: Senhor do Bonfim wrist ribbons, known as fitas, are an institution in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia. Senhor do Bonfim means Our Lord of a Good End, which is one way that Bahianas refer to Jesus.

The ribbons found on the streets of Salvador have "Lembrança do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia" printed on them. Translated from Portuguese, the phrase roughly means In Remembrance of the Savior of Bahia or Souvenir from the God of Bahia—or something along those lines.

Hang it up

An eco friendly way to organize your closet. These hangers are made out of recycled newspaper. Matteria carries them online and much more!

Matteria is a new version shop presenting a collection of objects for living made as sustainable as possible. Matteria is the place to be if you are looking to adorn your home, get inspired or find a gift!

My question is why are all of these companies only over seas? I've come across quite a few in Europe but only a handful in the States. This tells us something.

Curb

Curb, a company based in the UK, is the first and only agency in the world to offer advertising using solely natural earth elements.

They provide eco-advertising services and have a green team of creative experts to execute projects.

Curb is able to promote brands with amazing natural solutions that directly hit their target market but with no impact on the environment!

Curb has worked with numerous well known companies and have assisted in advertising, product launches, national campaigns, you name it! Adidas photos above are from their site and they are my favorite. One thing I would like to add (of course my opinion is present in this post) for those folks thinking that some companies are not trying, this is a good example of how a company such as Adidas may not have completely gone organic in their products but they are seeking alternate ways for advertising and that is a great beginning. This bears repeating DON'T DO NOTHING JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN'T DO EVERYTHING These companies are great role models for doing the best they can at this time in their eco journey.

Certified Organic

Spotted:
A certified organic sticker parade. Each region has their own. And each country has their own specific guidelines. Be on the look out for these babies when traveling.

And Did you know?
In some countries, organic standards are formulated and overseen by the government. The U.S.A, the E.U and Japan have comprehensive organic legislation, and the term "organic" may be used only by certified producers.
Being able to put the word "organic" on a food product is a valuable marketing advantage in today's consumer market. Certification is intended to protect consumers from misuse of the term, and make buying organics easy. However, the organic labeling made possible by certification itself usually requires explanation. In countries without organic laws, government guidelines may or may not exist, while certification is handled by non-profit organizations and private companies.

I've become accustomed to seeing this one in Greece. It looks the same but usually reads Bio Hellas.
